About INS Capital

The need for a quality, professional advisory firm to assist insurance industry business owners with M&A and capital raising activities is what led Chris McAtee to start INS Capital Group (ICG) in 2017. Chris' career has focused on mergers, acquisitions and financing options for insurance agents and wholesale brokers and he knows his unique experience is unmatched by anyone else in the industry.

Occupying seats on each side of the negotiating table during an acquisition from representing buyers to sellers & the lender during transactions, Chris has a deep understanding of what each party requires to accomplish a deal.  He has worked with a variety of business owners, including captive and independent retail agents, wholesale agents, Managing General Agencies and Program Administrators, with market values ranging between $250K and $50M.  Chris has completed more than 150 transactions for clients across the country with transactions totaling over $250M. 

Chris' experience has allowed him to build an extensive network of buyers and lending professionals across the country making him a valuable resource to agents looking to sell, buy or raise capital.

President & Founder

Chris McAtee, CEPA

Prior to founding ICG, Chris spent nearly 10 years with the largest insurance lender in the country, serving in the capacity of Sales Manager and Vice President, where he was the firm’s top producer and responsible for handling some of their largest and most complex transactions.  Since leaving the lender in 2015, he did contract work for another insurance M&A firm, before making the decision to start ICG. 

A presenter at insurance industry events, Chris shares his knowledge on mergers, acquisitions, succession planning and financial options for agents.  He also has written articles and conducted webinars for the insurance industry’s top banks on the same topics.  

Chris earned his Bachelors Degree in Business from Purdue University. In 2018, he received his Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation as well as a certificate in Financial Management from Cornell University.
